sometimes it seems like everything i want to do is all at the same time.
this morning the lakeside school rummage sale started at 9, rei opened at 9, and i wanted to go to a yoga class at 915. obviously, the rummage sale and rei are going on all day, but i only like to do things right when they open on a weekend because later on they're too crowded to manage. so i had to choose.
i decided to skip yoga (again!) because i'm still congested and breathing is difficult.
i went to rei to pick up the new new bike and was delighted to be assisted by doug. he adjusted the seat up and back, checked the gears, put on a new stem, and generally made the new new bike the one true bike. and for the record, rei at 9 am on saturday morning is deserted, i highly recommend it.
then home to get mark and have a snack and make an attempt at lakeside. this is a legendary rummage sale that i've never managed in the past and simply has to be seen to be believed. it was a mob scene and parking was a nightmare but mark found a nice old oak office chair and i know for next time to go earlier and leave him home.

i called in sick today and am spending the day watching season 6 of the gilmore girls. the new new bike is ready, i'll pick it up saturday and compare the two bikes properly and return the big one (i pretty much know that will be the verdict) on monday. and the full throttle fret will be complete. i hope.
i've been having spectacular anxiety dreams of late, related to all aspects of my life: marriage, aging, librarianship, yoga teaching, friendships, travel, bicycling, you name it. i hope something evens out somewhere so they stop, because they're exhausting.

i'm sick. i got a sore throat monday and thought it was just from stirring up dust (i got rid of a bag of old yoga clothes). but it didn't go away and by the time i finished teaching last night i felt terrible. i didn't go to yoga this morning (a sure sign i'm near death) and called in late today so i'll cover the desk from 6-9 tonight since we're short staffed.
i didn't want to bail on a previous plan, so i got out of bed and showered and during my window of verticality i went to the frye to see the crumb exhibit with mark. it was fascinating of course. we were there for about an hour and bought a couple of books in the shop.
after that i went to the downtown rei to look at a smaller version of the bike. you may or may not know that bikes come in different sizes. i'm short so i usually need the smallest bike possible. my old mountain bike is actually a kids bike. sadly, they didn't have one built but said they could build it in a day or two if i bought it. so i rebought the bike and left. i think this will resolve the three weeks of fretting about fit.
mark had given me some things he wanted delivered to dave so i called dave to find out where he was and told him i'd stop by to drop the things. he'd sent a cryptic email that seemed to warrant a conversation so of course when i got there he wanted to go for coffee. we went to world cup and got hot chocolate and talked for a while after which i came home to collapse for a few hours before i have to go to work.

oh my goodness so exciting. i ordered a new front door and a new kitchen door! last night the carpenter came over and looked at the setup and took measurements and told me what to tell them and this morning i went to the door store and placed my order! we've lived in our house for nearly five years and we're finally going to get new doors! woo!

there are many reasons to love the interwebs. today my reason is that you can find things there that you can't find other places, and often completely free.
for example, occasionally we are taunted by our friends into wanting things we can't have. but we sometimes have other friends who make things possible. i just read it in book form, on loan from dearest kofbeets, but you can read it online in its entirety!

rei called. five days is better than ten days, but i think the new bike might not be the right size. i also wasn't impressed with the person i picked it up from, she basically wheeled the bike out of the shop and walked off. so i will fret about it for a while and see what i think. the weather's bad anyway.

i was just googling around looking for a good way to find the exact latitude and longitude of an address and happened upon maporama. it is pretty darn cool.
yoga makes you smarter. i lost my keys for two days (not smart) but in class this morning i cleared my mind and thought about where my keys were last seen and found them. when i got home to check my work, they were indeed right where i'd remembered putting them. and fortunately, i did this at the beginning of class so i could enjoy the rest of it without distraction.
